Chandni Re Jhoom...

One of the songs that I usually hum for my daughter. She is too small to understand the wordings; however, she does like the sound of it.

So...to you all, who have small ones to look after and play with. I dedicate this to you all my little nieces and nephews :-)

Another one from my everlasting Kishore Da's list:

fRIENDS JUST TO CHANGE TOPIC ,
JUST SOME THOUGHTS ON MURTIPOOJA
******************************
Science behind MURTIPOOJA
It was really saddening to see some folks saying that there is no scientific rationale behind murti puja well I think there is one and as I understand ....

Lets first understand what God is in terms of energy/matter ..

GOD is nothing but a source of pure cosmic energy coming from outer space and that energy has been divided itself into while the formation of creatures (all species etc.)

that energy resides in every creature at the lower end of spinal cord, that is the reason behind the fact that whenever a human or other specy comes into being the first formation in the spinal cord (formation of the foetus ).

So when we take birth we take birth with the state of energy (prana) which was passed to the embrayo ....I guess I am digressing here a bit...

Coming back to murti puja ...

As it is stated in the vedic philosophy ....just the murti puja is nothing and does not mean anything ...unless...a very important step has been taken before that and that is ......PRANA PRATISTHA (establishing prana (the channels through which the cosmic energy flows and connects to the super cosmic energy) )...this step is the most vital step and must be performed in order to the murti or idol to be able to connect to its cosmic energy channel . This step is a very rigorous and is performed through specific mantras and rituals and takes days ....once that is done the idol or murti is now ready to be able to connect to the superior energy source.

Thats why we have concept of temples and temples always have a very sharp metal type object at the very top of their dome, and that is exactly why it is forbidden to have the temple in a a household (well its not bad to have idols and photos but the prana pratishta is never done in a house hold as a very specific energy environment is generated around the temples which may get interferred or destroyed by the kinds of energies generated through daily activities we do in a household).

Well said, Gunjan and thanks for sharing this important aspect behind idol worship.

To be honest, I have never had such detailed understanding of, what you have just shared. It benefits our reasoning for those times, when somebody who doesn't know much about Hinduism, poses such queries. I am sure other will agree with me here.

The only thing, I found objectionable (and that is my presional opinion) is, considering GOD THE source of cosmic energy from outer space. The phrase in itself, creates an foreign image, when on the other hand, we also say that we are nothing but part of him, just as everything else. Isn't the same applies to all entities, including the structrual aspects such as house, temples etc.

I don't find a difference between them.

Anyhow, i think your topic belongs space in main forum, not in comment section only. Some people might not see it here, so I am taking the liberty and moving it to the front page (hope you won't mind)
